| About our pictures and movies

Please note that old pictures are smaller (1024 x 768 pixel) than new ones (1400 x 1050 pixel).
Our website is up for nearly ten years and in the beginning people had slow analogue modems only,
so old pictures had to be small to meet the slow internet speed.
|
|
This doesn't apply to movies. All movies are available in high-quality H.264, even the oldest ones. You can play the movies either with
QuickTime Player
or with
VLC Media Player
. Both players are free.

| Pictures 1400 x 1050 pixel
|
1400 x 1050 pixel is our standard size for pictures. All pictures released after October 2006
are 1400 x 1050 pixel in size. All future pictures too, of course.
Please note: In the gallery sets of 40 to 80 pictures are packed into a single ZIP file so you can download entire series of pictures with a single click of your mouse.

| Pictures 1024 x 768 pixel
|
1024 x 768 pixel was the old standard size for pictures.
All pictures released from August 2001 to October 2006 are 1024 x 768 pixel in size.
Additionally you can still get all new pictures in 1024 x 768 pixel as this size is well suited for old monitors or small devices like the iPad.

| Movies 640 x 480 Pixel (H.264 Codec with 2500 Kbit/s)

640 x 480 pixel is our standard size for movies.
All movies are available in this high-quality format. Please note that they are running very smooth due to 50 fps (frames per second).
Other websites are providing only 25 fps.
Here are four short excerpts from the original movies inside the gallery. These excerpts are only 20 seconds, whereas the original movies are 8 to 10 minutes.
These excerpts are exactly the same format as the original movies, so you can easily test your QuickTime Player or VLC Media Player installation.
If these excerpts play on your system, the original long movies will play too.

Please note, that you can download all movies to your harddisk.
This way you can play all movies no matter what internet speed you use. You can play 2.5 MBit/s movies even with a 1.0 MBit/s internet connection.
